My Canadian Wedding Bucket List
I love weddings of all shapes and sizes, but here’s a no-so-secret little fact about me: I love the water. More importantly, I loved it from an early age that so much so my first dream was to be an Underwater Photographer (or Marine Biologist) and spent a majority of my youth studying Oceans Magazine & National Geographic; I joined the sea cadets and got my SCUBA license at 16; I trained myself to swim a mile a day and swam one every day for a few years… so… you might spot a theme here inside this bucket list.
So check out my list and find out if YOU are one of these couples.
An Artful Romance on Fogo Island
The Fogo Island Inn is the venue dreams are made of — this award-winning venue is unique, artful, wild and romantic but most importantly it thrives with sustainability central to its core values. This island off the coast of Newfoundland is a retreat like no other for any couple willing to go that extra mile.
Gaspe Peninsula Lighthouse Wedding
There is something about lighthouses that feel timeless to me, like I’ve jumped into an epic novel crossing the high seas and landed gratefully ashore guided by the lighthouse beacon. I think of them as a physical metaphor for those we intimately connect to and would love to photograph your literal romance along the beautiful Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec.
Wine Country WEDDING in Prince Edward County
I have spent a few summers in Prince Edward County, driving along the country roads with views of the vineyards with the summer breeze blowing through my hair. One of the most incredible things are it’s Sandbanks — you feel more like seaside than you do lakeside! And there’s so much to do: the quaint antique shops, stopping for a glass of wine & pizza at a local vineyard or dining on oysters at my favorite restaurant The Sand and Pearl… this is a most romantic spot for weddings, engagements & elopements. If you need venue ideas, I have them.
Majestic Views from THE MAGDALEN ISLANDS ARCHIPELAGO
Natural breathtaking red sandstone landscapes imbued with local music and soaked in buttered lobster is a setting that ferries right into my photographer’s heart. It’s big sea and sky views among the most unique array of islands suitable for the adventurous and creative couples.
ROMANTIC REFINEMENT AT THE MANOIR
My husband and I stumbled on this getaway a few years after we had our daughter — it was our first time away from her and we really wanted luxury in a natural setting. And boy, did we get it. I would love nothing more then to return to this setting and witness the pleasure you will have at the Manoir Hovey, whether it’s in the lakefront views, the Michelin star dining, their luxurious rooms or the memorable celebration you can’t help but have.
A Night At The Chateau
La Malbaie (or Charlevoix) is a stunning region in Quebec along the Saint-Lawrence. Having traveled there (and with a wedding on the schedule there this season) it’s a location built for romance. The Fairmont Richelieu has all the Chateau trimmings typical for the Fairmont brand in breathtaking surroundings that will make you want to get married every day.
