Fattoria La Tagliata Wedding in Positano, Italy

When I booked Laurie & Anthony’s wedding in Santorini, Greece — I started thinking about trying to get some more work while I was overseas and so I published a landing page on my website just advertising that I would be in the vicinity should anyone want to hire me….

Casey & Justin, from North Carolina, found me - the magic of the internet! - then hired me to photograph their intimate wedding in Positano, Italy. It was a classic pinch-me moment.

One of the biggest surprises I had on the Amalfi Coast was just how mountainous it is…. I know that sounds silly but it’s true. The iconic photos that we all see don’t spell out just how many steps up a mountain you’re walking when your airbnb is more north of town.

This summer, I learned a lot about prepping for destination weddings and just how important it is to build in a few days leading up to the Rehearsal Dinner & Wedding Day. There are so many moving parts to any wedding (and the subsequent backup plans I need to put in place), adding a layer of different country, different language, different infrastructure, etc is something you can only experience once you are in place (instead of planning beforehand). But that’s for a travel post that I am thinking about writing…

Casey & Justin & their loved ones proved that guest count does not matter when it comes to having a really great party and big props to Fattoria La Tagliata and the WedPlace Wedding Planning team for creating an ambience and live music that got the party started. Just take a look at the photos and you’ll see what I mean.

When I left their party (still very much in full swing) I took a long beautiful walk down the mountain grateful for the opportunities my job provides me.

A big huge thank you to Casey, Justin and their families for entrusting me with their memories. <3

PS. This year I started shooting with some film, you’ll catch a couple of photos that I shot with my Holga here in this gallery.
